Definitely just a feel. It has plenty of power, especially for non paved surfaces. I have never ran into a situation where it "needed" more power. I do a lot of road riding so am going to install 8:1 gears. Starting out my goal was to have the same torque as the stock gears and motor. At this point hopefully it will have more. I have an issue modding pretty much everything I own .

With any vehicle, "feeling fast" is all about the "weight to torque ratio". I use the 10:1 ratio for comparisons. Anything that has a 10:1 ratio will feel fast.

Example: 3000 lbs : 300 ft lbs = 10:1 (Mustang type numbers)

Example: 600 lbs : 60 ft lbs = 10:1 (atv type numbers)

Example: 600 lbs : 15 ft lbs = 40:1 (stock golf cart type numbers)

Example: 600 lbs : 30 ft lbs = 20:1 (golf cart with 16 hp Vanguard with rev kit)
