Key Start Ignition ???
I have a '07 EzGo ST and what to know if changing the pedal start to a key start ignition will make for smoother starting and easier operation? If this is a better option, how do I do it?

Re: Key Start Ignition
Besides keeping it idling, your takeoff won't be any smoother because the clutch always engages at the same point. It would get rid of the start-stop driving though.

If its just a case of your not being use to it, I would give it some time to get more familiar with the cart. You may find you like it better that way. If you just can't stand it like it is there are ways to make it run all the time, however, the starter/generator is not really designed to operate that way. |

Re: Key Start Ignition
If you do change to key start put in a stifffer drive spring also. You can do it without but sometimes it is hard to go from forward to reverse, and you have to shut it off anyways.

Re: Key Start Ignition
All,
Thank you for your feed back. I'm a long time gear head but this is my first go with the cart scene. This has cleared up some questions that I have had about smoother starts or not. Thank you |

Re: Key Start Ignition
His ST should already have the hd spring, but this is the case with most other carts. I have my ST480 where it runs all the time and it doesn't shift right unless I have come to a complete stop with the engine at an idle (which is more or less the engine turning over with the starter). The v-twin vanguard seems to work better if you keep it running when using it with the ezgo start/gen setup.

Re: Key Start Ignition
I used the one in the BU kit and it made it alot easier to go from forward to reverse.
