Default Regen motor installed in series cart

Got a 04 ds that didn’t run. Pulled the motor and found it was a regent motor. This was in a series Cart. I didn’t think these motors were interchangeable but supposedly the cart ran that way??

I doubt it. I bought a non running DS that an older gentleman bought from a craigslist add that stated all it needed was batteries. He bought new batteries and installed them and it would not run so he listed it for sale. When I looked at it, someone had installed a Yamaha controller. They had spliced some wires to make the connections.

Yikes! Sounds like the previous owner thought they knew way more about EVs than they did. Hope you got it cheap enough to fix

All good, got me a D&D motor on the way. I put an old CC motor and its good other than the whopping 14 MPH. Man the Series stock carts were a terd!

For what they were designed for, [golf course use by everyone including numbnuts that can't drive], 13mph was/is plenty fast.

The series drive system was the first drive system used in virtually all golf carts until Ezgo introduced DCS in 1995. Series is still considered the workhorse drive system versus the Sepex drive system - I call the people mover because of it's more rapid people moving ability and NEV application.
Later Sepex carts could also do off road duty. And at that point series carts dropped out of production.
