I thought maybe the first set of springs were too long so I bought another pair that has a helper spring when there are riders on the back. It is a much smoother ride but once again, the shackles slipped down. I'm thinking that maybe the 14 precedents must need a shorter spring. I don't know what else to do. Once the shackles slipped down to parallel and rest on top of the spring I get rubbing again. Very confused and would like to find an option. Anyone have any thoughts?

Scratching my head..... Me thinks that you could either go shorter or longer on shackle length and cure the problem.

I will get you a measurement of my stock and heavy duty spring a little later today.

Measure from the center of the bushing holes.

Sounds to me like his springs are too long. He measured them to be an inch longer than OEM springs. That'll throw the geometry way out of wack on a spring shackle that's 3" long.

Bpick0,
Do you mean that the new springs are 29" from the center of the eye's and the shackle still flips over on one side?

Do you have a broken frame? Please measure the spring perch in front to the spring perch in the back, where the top of the shackles attach. Do this on both sides, and let us know if it is the same, and what the dimension is.

I looked a little closer to your first pictures and it looks like the wrong shackle bracket is installed for your cart configuration.

If You look at the circles, the bracket itself appears to be what is moving.

Also, please notice the mounting location pointed by the arrow, that arrangement goes with the old bracket/frame design, the new 3-point bracket mounts a different way on the frame itself.

I am sure David can help you getting the correct parts that go with your cart design.

Wow no wonder you have trouble getting things apart. Are all carts corroded that bad down yonder.

This cart came from Key West. Carts around here don't look like this. It's surprisingly coming apart really well though. It's getting a lift kit and new springs so all the rust will be gone shortly. It'll be like it never existed. I took the shackles off and got all the rust off with a wire brush and re painted them. They're good as new.
