Default Club car issue from boneheaded move

This is a true story. Sadly on the way to my hunting camp my CC came undone on the interstate, knocked the back gate open and made a perfect touchdown at 60 mph, while shooting across the empty lane next to me and came to a rest in the median with only one dent on the brush guard from
The metal wire dividers. Now when I push the gas it doesn’t go right away. It is sluggish in for and reverse. She will still go but it takes a few seconds. It wasn’t in tow mode so I’m thinking the issue may be caused from that? Anyone have any good ideas ? I’m looking at getting a high torque motor and controller bit wasn’t planning on getting it yet but if that’s potentially it then I’ll end up biting the bullet.

And no I didn’t have any luck hunting.

Wow, you were very lucky (well, no at hunting), that could have been a big **** up! First thing I would do is double check all connections, then do a diagnostics on componants before you start replacing things that "may" be bad.

60 mph! I think you have set the speed record in here for a cart hitting the road!

It's a wonder the motor didn't explode.

Pull the motor, take it apart, and take pics. Post pics here.

If it drives at all my initial thought is the controller is probably okay. But I doubt that motor is any good, at least not for long

That's an unfortunate situation. But very fortunate it didn't hit another car.

Since this is a regen cart, with the run/tow switch in run, I really think the motor and controller will need replacement.

Contact one of the site sponsors and see what they recommend. It may be a perfect time for that upgrade.

Although the initial hit was hard on the Controller and Motor, I don't think the dynamic brake short burst is as bad as a long towing event.

Make sure the batteries are still good and have electrolyte as it could have cracked one or shorted some of the plates if they were old.

Also make sure no wires came loose on the batteries or the controller, specially the field wires.

Will be pulling it apart tomorrow, the batteries are about a year old and I will check everything. It will drive just takes it a few seconds to go, sometimes not at all and I’ll let off the pedal and push it back down and then she goes. I’ll contact the sponsor, thank y’all for the info.

Glad no one got hurt! I would be checking for bent components and cracked welds. Seems to me there would have to be some structural carnage after an event like that.
