Default Motor Change

Hi - just installing a new AMD motor in my Club Car DS. I can’t seem to push the motor in all the way. There is a 1/4” gap (maybe less) between the engine and the trans.

Any ideas ?

Some motors have a rubber bumper inside the splinded coupler. Newer motors usually don't need this. Did you see one anywhere when you took the old motor off? Could be stuck on the end of the transaxle shaft?

Did you try gently tightening the bolts down? That leads to the second question, did you clean and lube the shaft with anti-seize grease?

Yep. Make sure the bumper is out for the AMD on the DS, and as said above, go ahead and put some anti seize on it while your in there

The new motor shouldn’t have a bumper stop. The old bumper should not be used in the new motor. It’s nothing more then a cheap fix for a GE motor.

Make sure you wire brush the splines well (guessing rusty) on the output shaft prior to applying the anti seize.

Really the only things that it could be.

Once you've ensured there's no bumper in there and the transaxle shaft is clean, gently tighten the bolts as WalterM6 suggested.
