Yamaha transaxle oil change
How often should the transaxle oil be changed in an electric Yamaha g29 cart?

Every 2 years would be good, here is a thread about the oil change procedure:

Re: Yamaha transaxle oil change
The recommendation I saw was every 4 years. I guarantee that most out there have not done it that often. I changed mine after 8 years with no ill effects. (had not paid any attention to that service interval until I got a second older cart).

Re: Yamaha transaxle oil change
Depends how much you use it. I just picked up a 2002 g22 that was a fleet cart and then went to a private community and was passed around a few times and the service was NEVER done. So I’d say do it when you have the time to do it but don’t do unnecessary work.
I don’t plan to do mine for a few years. |

Re: Yamaha transaxle oil change
The need changes depending on the year of the car. Early Drives (2007-2012.5) had the Team transaxle and internal wet brakes. The braking suffered when the Friction Modified gear oil was allowed to stay in there too long.
Also note the difference in oil. The Team transaxle uses Friction modified oil. Later transaxles use the standard 80-90 weight gear oil. |

Re: Yamaha transaxle oil change
I have the Team trans in both of my carts and with those it's wise to try to follow Yamaha's recommendation to change the fluid every 4 years or so. This is because the brakes generate debris in the fluid. A normal transaxle should not need fluid changes ever really.

Re: Yamaha transaxle oil change
I saw pictures on here, oil from a Yamaha Team transaxle, looks like tar maybe never changed, but i'd recommend to do it from time to time. And on carts like the Ezgo RXV with a posi differential also.

I'm sure i'll be yelled at, but I didn't change my 2007 until the brakes were squeaking.
