Re: Hot wired through batt meter
I was looking at the wiring in the cart and it hasn't been hacked up. Just the jumper between the two hot batt meter leads. I looked at the diagrams but I cant figure where the power comes from for the white and white/yellow leads on key switch. BUFF A LOAD!!!

Re: Hot wired through batt meter
how many wires do you have at the key switch/battery meter?

Re: Hot wired through batt meter
I have the two blue for the lights. The white and the white/yellow for pedal activation. There is continuity through the key switch when in ON position. There is a red lead that goes to the batt meter on the same post as the white /yellow lead a factory set up not hacked.

Re: Hot wired through batt meter
If anyone could look at the 48 volt diagram and tell me where the power for the cart comes from that would be great. Like I said earlier the switch just seems to complete a circuit through the controller pins.
Maybe I am missing something. I am still leaning on the theory that an inoperable state of charge gauge wont allow the cart to run. |

Re: Hot wired through batt meter
This theory would be incorrect. A battery meter needs 2 things to operate. A hot wire and a ground. If you place these 2 together you get sparks or even fire. So there is no way that they just removed the meter and tied the two wires together. What you need to do is get your multimeter out and start testing and tracing wires to get it figured out.

Re: Hot wired through batt meter
More confusion. There is a 48 volt hot lead coming into the meter as well as a switched 48 volt lead on the other post and a black ground on another post. 96 volts???
Again this is a factory setup. That's what makes me think the 48 volts flows through the meter...through the switch and out to the controller and pedal. |

Re: Hot wired through batt meter
Bmatlock00,
There are three wires on my batt. meter. Red pos-black neg. and another red coming from the key switch. When you connect the two red the cart runs. The meter does not read..the leds do not work at any time. |

Re: Hot wired through batt meter
I just lifted this diagram from another post (credit kgsc). This is for a buggy with lights position on the key switch and direction selector on the dash.

Re: Hot wired through batt meter
Yup, that's my setup. Cart will not run when wired like that. If you take the pos leads off the gauge and hook them together it runs weather the key is on or off.
