Re: help with digital voltmeter install
Bulls,
I picked up this same "high quality" voltmeter...Did you have any issues initially with it doing what mine shows? I have mine hooked directly to the pack, actually give me a reading (37.9) when I connected it to the pack but after 3-4 minutes it went to this "default" mode and can't seem to figure out. |

1) Are you use it is rated for the input voltage? I've seen some "quality" meters that were only rated to 12 or 24 volts etc... 2) Is it polarity sensitive? Try switching the 2 wires around. 3) When it is giving you this --- reading have you taken a voltage reading from its leads to check the applied voltage? |

Bazzonim, i agree with teecro, wires might need to be switched. also, with my "high quality" voltmeter it is right in front of the pack so there's only a few inches of additional wire to posts. try tracing your wiring and look for pinched wires. also really quickly mine basically reads 37.9 after charging and resting the pack for 10-12 hours. i still have to hook up bus bar from Cartsunlimited which might help me recoup those 10% of Soc as I have all of my accessories (horn, voltage reducer, etc) running directly to my pack main posts. have to purchase additional wire and block 3-4 hours to re-wire. might wait for bus bar install until i upgrade to 2 gauge wires so it'll all be done at same time while cart is pulled apart. let us know how things turn out... |

1)I will have to double check that from the source, but I believe so, it works briefly then shuts off 2)Possible, but it comes "pre-wired" with a red and black wire. I placed it on my dash, so I had to add wire to reach the pack. Wouldn't think but I used 16g wire to "extend" it, possibly looks to be 22-24g factory wire from the meter, could that affect it? 3)]Yes, used a multi-meter reads 37.9. As I mentioned, its "works" correctly if I take it of the battery pack post and put it back on, however it only last for 2-3 min and then defaults to this Could be a faulty meter but again with it working briefly then "defaulting." Thanks for the trouble shooting I will be away at work for a few days will try the suggestions and get back |

Re: help with digital voltmeter install
You have either a defective meter or it is the wrong voltage range and it is faulting out.... I'd fair a guess that when you say "quality" you are joking cause it was cheap?
