My electric cart not working
Just picked up a golf cart from a friend . EZGO electric. Does not run correctly. Symptoms are weak batteries. I checked voltage from the neg tp pos terminals from the furthest batteries. Had 30vdc. Jacked cart up and checked from neg terminal to each high voltage terminal on the solenoids it was starting at around 6 at the first one and went up to 25 volts at the last one.
Any help would be nice. Thanks |

Re: My electric cart not working
CHARGE THE BATTERIES! They are WAY low. Check their water levels first, fill to "just above the plates". Then, charge them 5 more times. (drive to the end of your street then plug it in again, repeat 5 times). batteries are neglected, charge them again. you might not have much left to work with with your batteries, cycle them a few times

Re: My electric cart not working
I second the statements of Cgtech, 30 volts is dead dead. You might revive them with lots of charging. DO NOT OVER FILL, for the first few rounds watch the levels closely and only use distilled water always.

Re: My electric cart not working
You need more resolution. 36V is a nominal but fully charged it's larger than that.

Re: My electric cart not working
A fully charged set of battery in 36 volt configuration in 100 % tip top condition should read 36.2 to 36.4 volts.... At 36.3 volts you are at 50 % state of charge and that is considered the lowest you allow your pack voltage before recharging and this shortens their lives.... At 10 % remaining voltage would still be 34.5 volts... So 30 volts is dead dead dead....

Quote:
The voltages on chart are At-Rest voltages, which means 12 hours after charger shuts of or 30 minutes after cart is driven |

Re: My electric cart not working
I'm calling the battery abuse hotline
Fully charged and rested (settled)for 12 hours should net a reading of 38.2-.4. 100 minutes of operation should net a reading of 36v. This is about 50% depleted and this is where a healthy pack should be back on the charger. But- for now do the multiple low discharge and recharge as GCT suggests until you have a healthy pack. |
