2008 ez-go rxv parking brake stuck
Hello, long time lurker first time poster.
It seems that the electronic parking brake one of my 2008 ez go RXV is acting strange. It felt like the parking brake was stuck on and would not release in forward or reverse . The rear end would jerk as you drove. While driving it back to the shop it started to smoke and smell like ( burnt clutch? ). After looking threw the manual, i found that you could release the brake by switching a few plugs and putting them back to normal. Took it on a test drive and all seemed fine. 1 hour leader the operator said it was smoking again and acting up. Any idea on what could be wrong? thanks for the help! |

Yep, whats wrong is that you have not ordered the new brake yet. Its gonna have to be replaced. This is a fairly common mode of motor brake failure.

Remove rear access panel, 3 bolts on brake (on drivers side end of motor).

Read some more rxv brake threads for the details, but its pretty easy. When getting new brake, avoid model with release handle on the side.

New brake has no handle at all. Wire plug swap under motor controller cover unlocks newer models (instructions are printed on sticker under bottom of cover).
