Default Club car 48 volt

I have a 48 volt cart that after a full charge all batteries have 8plus volts. The charger remains at 5 amps and will not shutoff. Charger and batteries get hot can

Thank You!

8 V each times six equals 48 V. The charger needs to see somewhere between 56 and 63 V to hit the cut off mark. Sounds like you may have bad batteries

Define 8 "plus." Like 8.1 or 8.4? It makes a huge difference. 8.1 is 48.6 and 8.4 is 50.4 That is the difference in having crap batteries and having a good pack.

Just how long are you waiting for the charger to turn off. It can take up to 16 hours for a full charge.
Let us find the problem before we condem things.

After reading both threads, I'm guessing the charger is busting it's hump trying to bring an unbalanced battery pack to the shut off point.
