Default Battery with a hole in the bottom

So I was golfing yesterday and hit a metal stake with the cart - it poked a hole in the bottom of the battery and all of the liquid inside poured out. I was thinking that I could just epoxy the hole and refill the battery with distilled water. Would this work? Does anyone have any experience with this sort of thing?

No. all the battery acid leaked out, so after you fix the hole. You would need to buy some battery acid and replace what leaked out

Try a battery store? And yes fill to cover plates. Are you sure that the metal spike did not damage the plates? If any are smashed into the next plate they battery is going to be shot/shorted...

Also, the Specific Gravity of the replacement battery acid should match the SG of the rest of the batteries when they are fully charged.

The SG of Trojan batteries at 100% SoC is 0.1277 (corrected to 80°F) and the SG of the battery acid found in auto parts stores may be different.

I'm also wondering what epoxy isn't going to get eaten by the acid...

That I don't know... Depending on how old the battery/batteries are I'd look to replace with either a used one or excuse to replace one/or all with new....

I would replace the battery. I doubt that you will be able to make a patch that will hold up in the bottom. It will be way more trouble than it's worth. It is likely that you damaged the plates if the stake penetrated the case anyway.

JB Weld? I'm tentative because the hole is in the bottom - and because I'll have to figure out how to mix sulfuric acid to the right specific gravity....
