RXV - Switching from Powerwise QE to DPI Charger
Just picked up a DPI charger for my RXV after the Powerwise QE died. I got it off of craigslist, and it came with a Yamaha plug, so I swapped the cord from my old charger to it. It's charging, but I don't know where to connect the signal pin lead inside the charger. Any help? Will the signal pin even work with this charger?

Re: RXV - Switching from Powerwise QE to DPI Charger
Just cut the third wire off or cap it so it doesn't touch anything. The DPI doesn't need it.

The lockout doesn't wrk now. What signal does it need?

Re: RXV - Switching from Powerwise QE to DPI Charger
If you are talking about the circuit that disables the controller when a battery charger is plugged in (blue wire from backside if charge receptacle), it works with only the + and - wires from the DPI charger connected to the top to pins of the plug.
The bottom wire in the charger's output plug is not used with a DPI. The blue wire has too have battery pack voltage on it for controller to power-up. |

Re: RXV - Switching from Powerwise QE to DPI Charger
Yes, the third prong - supposedly it disables the controller. It's physically shorter than the other two so it breaks contact first, I guess to deactivate the QE charger before the main contacts are broken. Seems the third prong would just need + or - signal to work. The wires from my QE plug are black, white, and green. It must be blue on the receptacle, but I haven't looked. I just want the lockout to work. I can see myself driving off with the plug in it by accident. :)

Re: RXV - Switching from Powerwise QE to DPI Charger
Could someone check if the blue wire has ground or hot (and if hot, what's the voltage) when their charger is plugged in for me?

Re: RXV - Switching from Powerwise QE to DPI Charger
I'm not sure if it actually connects to B- (there is no ground), but B+ (battery pack positive) is removed from the blue wire when the charger is plugged into the charge receptacle.
With 0V on the blue wire, the controller is disabled. With 48V (battery pack voltage) on the blue wire, the controller is enabled. |
