POR-15 is a product that goes on like paint and hardens like steel. It was specifically designed to be used on rusted metal to restore the metal and halt the spread of rust.

The actual name is Paint Over Rust - 15 but it's household name is POR-15

Talking Re: 04 TXT PDS Build Thread

Here's and update. When I look at the pictures, it doesn't look like much has been done, but I just spent 3 hours DA Sanding the frame with 100 grit and removing the seized up rear shock absorbers, thank God for Air Impact tools! I also removed the dash and rinsed her down. Over the weekend, I ordered the following:

POR15 with Marine Clean and Metal Prep
AllSports 5" Drop Axle Lift
AllSports HD Rear Springs
EZGO Front Shock Absorbers
EZGO Rear Shock Absorbers
EZGO HD Front Cantilever Springs
New Battery Tray (Old One was rusted through)
Seat Frame
2 New Splash Pans

The POR should show up tomorrow and I'll get everything painted on Saturday!

Jwc, looks like you're off to a great start. I'm going frame up on a 2001 txt freedom right now and just started too. I'm a total rookie but will follow your thread and anything I learn from mine, I'll be sure to pass on.

I used the por 15 as well and had excellent results.

Good luck

Anybody have any tips for how the heck to get these brake cables removed. My stuff is in BAD shape. I want to drop the rear axle but once I remove the cotter pin, the bold does not come out.... Below are some pics!

*Progress Report*

My lift is here, along with my front/rear HD springs, and 4 brand spankin new Shock Absorbers! Tuesday I ordered the EZGO Terrain body in bright white with light kit along with the brush guard, mud flaps, and black diamond plate kick plates. After that wallet drain, I decided on Friday to order Madjax Extended Black Roof Kit, Madjax Genesis 300 Rear Seat, and Madjax Illusion 14" Wheels with White Inserts on 22x10x14 Timber Wolf A/T's. Sooooooo, it was time to get this frame torn the rest of the way down and get it prepped. Today was spent removing the brake lines, front axle, and rear axle. Tomorrow when I get back from the golf course is POR15 paint time!!!!! Below are a couple of pics of the final tear down (Pic #1 and #2) as well as the frame after the POR15 Marine Degreaser and POR15 Metal Prep (Pic #3 & #4).

After yesterday and the early evening was devoted the frame painted! I would like to thank everyone for their own build threads, they were a great guide. I also managed to not get any of the POR15 on my skin! All it took was a tyvek coverall, face sock, safety glasses, and some stylish yellow cleaning gloves! Time to get this soon to be beast back together!
