Pds trouble shooting
Hi, I have a 2002 ezgo pds. The batteries are about 4 years old and will be replaced in the spring. We went camping all weekend and the cart ran great, but Saturday the cart wouldn't go in reverse. The solenoid clicks but won't move. In diagnostic mode it beeps 3-2, solenoid welded. Says check auxiliary power or replace solenoid. Would weak batteries cause this?
Thanks, Kris |

Re: Pds trouble shooting
Weak batteries can cause all sorts of problems and failures. Measure them first.

Re: Pds trouble shooting
With the fluke meter, each of the batteries measure at 6.2.

Re: Pds trouble shooting
That comes out at 37.2 which is about just 75% charged.

Re: Pds trouble shooting
That's after being charged, is that weak enough to cause the other problems?

Re: Pds trouble shooting
Ok, I just replaced the 36v solenoid. It still won't go in reverse. The reverse alarm sounds but as soon as I depress the pedal it goes off. I can hear the solenoid plunging, but that's all it does. Any thoughts?

Re: Pds trouble shooting
What does the voltage drop down to while driving? Low voltage is a killer for those controllers, and loosing reverse is one of the symptoms of controller problems. While the damage may already be done, We really need the voltage while driving. If the batteries only charge up to 75% during a normal charge cycle, that's a bad sign for them. Does the charger needle go up to about 20a when first plugged in?
