Re: TXT run time with new batteries
Trojan will give the run time in minutes for various amp draws. http://www.trojanbattery.com/pdf/TRJ...dSpecGuide.pdf
Example the 6v T105 gives 115 minutes run time at 75 amp draw (a generous allowance) 115min = 1.92 hours times say 15 mph =28.8 miles |

Re: TXT run time with new batteries
Also remember flat grass fields have more resistance than flat paved roads. Add to that any hills you have and your trip distance may be cut short dramatically.
as for the voltages somebody posted, is that under load or sitting still or after the batteries have recovered for an hour?... Most of the time when people are talking about SOC and voltages to never go below, it's after the cart and batteries have sat for an hour so the batteries have recovery time, then you check the voltage. I have a 48v pack and I know on flat pavement and full speed, after it's reached a steady state, if the meter shows 46v I know I better already be headed back home. Once I stop using the cart, the voltage will shoot back up. But the number that people actually could use is the under-load voltages, and unfortunately that can vary wildly by battery type/capacity and cart... |

Re: TXT run time with new batteries
The object is to be back on the charger before the 36v pack reads 36v or the 48v pack reads 48v ... these are no load numbers which you will see on your in-dash digital battery meter about 10-15 seconds after you stop driving.
It's so easy even a caveman could do it. Pour me another one bartender. I'd do it myself but I don't have thumbs. |

Re: TXT run time with new batteries
At present I have this meter. Is this any good or should I just get one that reads voltage? If this one is good, at what point do I head home? Just above 1/2 way on the gauge?

Re: TXT run time with new batteries
To be honest this gauge has caused a lot of owners to shorten the useful life of their battery packs by over discharging them.
That is the very gauge I tested against my handheld test meter. I found that by the time one LED light had bone out I was quite low and by the time 2 LED lights went out I was below the manufactures recommended recharge level. OF course there are like 10 LEDS so you think you can go at least half way if not more..... but not if you want your pack to last. Those things are deceptive. |

Re: TXT run time with new batteries
Thanks. I guess that was the answer I expected. It's kind of like idiot lights on a car. By the time they come on the damage is already done.
