Is this as fast as it will go .?.!.?.!..
Hey guys, just got a new to me 1990 Club Car DS. I have fixed a few corroded wires, changed he front bearings and hub and checked all the batteries for voltage. I’m not sure how old the batteries are but I’m pretty sure they are on their way out. When charged they read approximately 7.3 each. I have not done much riding yet because I want to drain the rear fluid and replace because it hasn’t been changed in a very long time. This is the question ??? Shouldn’t this thing run a little faster than 12 mph ? I will attach a pic of it. I assume if the batteries are going bad it should still run at full speed for at least a little while. What could be causing it to only go 12 mph ? Thanks !!!

Not at 7.3v each. You are too far under-voltage to get the max out of it.

nole , they did not make 48v club car ds til 94
it might be the serfice charge that is 7.3v reading should be taken after a full charge and 12 hours rest on a 90's 36v cart you will get 12~15 mph if it is a 90's cart upgraded to 48v then it needs batteries |

I just measured them and the have not had a charge since yesterday. They read from 6.25 to 6.35 so I guess they may have a little life left in them. Entering how to get more speed. What all do I need to do to convert to 48 volts.

You need to have a 48v compatible speed controller and solenoid for starters.
You will need 48v worth of batteries and a 48v charger. The stock 36v can handle 48v nicely if it is in good condition. |

Re: Is this as fast as it will go .?.!.?.!..
So, After reading all of that, Does my cart have a controller or is the controller the "vglide". So far, I understand that I need to upgrade to 48volts worth of batteries, thicker wires, 48volt solenoid, and a 48 colt charger. I need to buy batteriers for it anyway and the current solenoid is crusty so that needed to be replaced as well. I figure since I am replcing all of that why not upgrade it all. I read that the controllers sometimes say they will work with 36 and 48 volt systems.I need to know where to find the controller if it even has one. Thanks for your time and patients.

Here are some links on 36v to 48v and solid state conversion.
1st link will help you determine if the drive system you have is resistor coil control. http://www.cartsunlimited.net/conversion-kits.html 2nd link will explain why solid state conversion is the way to go. http://www.cartsunlimited.net/why-co...-drive---.html |

Re: Is this as fast as it will go .?.!.?.!..
So if I go with one of your kits I will be able to use my cart on 36 volts like it is now and when I want to eventully updrade to 48 volts "after these batteries die" all I have to do is upgrade batteries, cables and use my 48 volt charger that I already have "i bought one from someone yesterday". Then eventually I can upgrade my motor when the stock motor dies. Is that right ?
