Default Battery Charging (out of car)

I have a set of new 2017 batteries gently used ( 6 8V) removed from a Club Car - I won't be installing them for several months. How should I store them and prepare them for installation. I plan on using them in a 2015 Precedent down the road - got a good deal on these batteries. Thanks

I purchased a 8v ‘battery tender’ to maintain individual batteries just in case. You can get one and move it between all 6 batteries to keep them topped off.

There are probably more efficient ways to do this (short of buying 6 battery tenders). Hopefully someone will come along with one.

+1

I would try hooking all six batteries up in parallel, not in series as normally done in the cart.

Connect all negatives together and all positives together. This will give you an 8 volt output across the pack.

Then use the 8 volt battery maintainer or tender across the paralleled 8 volt pack. It will charge slowly and keep all six batteries charged.

Make sure they are properly charged to full charge before storage.
Store in a dry place.
As long as they are insulated from ground and are not connected, you shouldn't have a problem sitting awhile.
My trolling motor batteries will sit for 5 or 6 months with very little loss of voltage.

Thanks I'm going to store them as suggested - if goes on too long I'll charge in parallel.
