My series cart uses a curtis 1204 and a quick check of the Curtis Inst. web site verifies the 1204 is series only. As old mec said if your motor has F1 &F2 terminals they will not work together.

The Curtis controller for series motors was 1204-410 as thats what my 1996 has. The shunt motor controller number has been dropped from Curtis catalog so I cant find out for sure there? The motor number you gave isnt shown in CC catalog for any motor? so dead end there also?

when I get home I will look for other numbers on the motor. guess I will have to upgrade the motor now instead of later

I would place a ad for a 36 volt "used motor" lots cheaper than NEW? Even if it needs rebuilding later on its worth the difference. Check sponsors like D&D motors for possible help?

what would happen if I wired everything like a series cart with the motor that I have will it not work at all or will it burn something up

The motors are wound different so I doubt that a shunt motor could be used as series without major changes and yes it might cause damage enough to maybe burn? I have never tried switching motors so Im not the person to guide you here. If you want to go ( IQ latest model same as Precdent ) it means a whole new wiring loom, controller, F&R control, additional parts that will add up over a simple series set up?
Again I advise contacting a motor builder like D&D, etc for good info. When I am in doubt I always contact the experts for a particular item.
