1995 CC 48v solenoid/power issue

I have two quick, should be fairly easy questions to answer.
1) I had an issue where my cart would not do anything. I checked it with a meter and was not getting anything passed the starter solenoid. So I changed the solenoid, I also changed the micro switches on the F-R switch. Even with juice to the solenoid it still won't work. I jumped the solenoid out and everything works. What could this damage by leaving it like this? The on/off switch still functions as well as every other obvious aspect of the operation. I have ran my charger and ur has charged all the way with no issues.
2) I had also came across that I have 6-6v batteries on the cart. I assumedbit was a 36v cart when I bought it, because that is what it had in it. If I want to add 12 more volts, would using a 12v car battery jut for a little bit, wired in series, just for some testing do any damage?

Welcome to bgw !

In '95 they made both 48 and 36v carts. What do your charger plug contacts look like? 3 round prongs is 48v and 2 flat blades is 36v.

Your solenoid activation circuit is at fault. Check the micro switch inside the V-glide. DO NOT run the cart with the solenoid jumpered... it is unsafe.

Let's address the voltage id issue first.

I have another micro switch that I can change out the one in the vglide. I'll get it. The charger is a 48v charger( which came with the cart) but the guy I bought it from told me that the charger was altered to charge 36v. They have instructions on the charger on how to do this, as well as how to put it back. Both the solenoid and the motor both say 48v. My guess is that the person before didn't want to splurge the couple extra dollars on 8v batteries. Who knows. I couldn't figure out why the cart didn't go too fast. I'm not looking for 20+ mph or anything, bit it was ridiculously slow. I'm assuming the lack of the missing 12v could have had something to do with it.

I find this hard to believe .... I would love to see how this voltage swap is done at the charger?

They have something on top, I just don't understand how. I will getbwith the dude about how that is done. Y'all aren't the only ones ho questioned that statement. I will find out and let y'all know what the answer to it is. Btw I checked the v gold microswitch. It ohm'd out fine. What next?

Can you post pictures of what's on top of your charger that makes it work on 36v?

Sounds to me like a 36 Volt charger in a 48 Volt charger "Case"
