[QUOTE=easydoesit;485230]I ran 2ga cable from that last neg battery terminal bypassing the OBC straight to the controller. I left stock 6ga cable as is running thru OBC. So I have 2 cables connected to the battery terminal and controller but one going through OBC. QUOTE]
I am about to upgrade my cart to 4 gauge. This method of dealing with the OBC is obviuosly working for easydoesit, but is it recommended. I am planning on purchasing a set of cables from one of the sponsors and was wondering how to feed the cable through the OBC since it will have the connector already crimped on.

If the end is bigger than the hole (and it probably is) then
either remove the end , thread cable and replace end,
or just leave the old 6 ga on the OBC and bypass the OBC with the new one.

batteries contain sulfuric acid

typical welders cable is
Flex-A-Prene
- EPDM rubber insulation
- Available in black, blue, green, red & yellow

re: cole and palmers website lists
epdm is a B1 rating + good
with sufuric acid at a 75=100% concentration

Stinger list thier cable as a PVC jacket

re: cole and palmer compatibility
it rates as a D-severe effect

so in that we have hard facts not just don't use that because they say

so when you do go to get cables make sure its EPDM outer jacket

http://www.coleparmer.com/techinfo/chemcompresults.asp

im going to check with J/L audio and Audison to see what the skin on thier wire is

thanks for the heads up on the wire ill post more when i get hard data

as you know their are auto stereo enthusiasts that opt to go with welding cables instead for their amp connections. As we know electricity travels on the outer surface of the individual strands. Some say that the strands in welding cable are thinner providing for a better "skin effect" and a denser cable. The insulation between the two are different in that one is basically rubber and the other pvc. I don't think that their is a right or wrong answer because both will work just as well. For sure welding cables are much cheaper and more flexible for those tight controller connections. If you are getting it for free, why not!

Just a FYI we revisit this ever so often
http://wiki.answers.com/Q/Does_elect...ugh_the_inside

The more strands for DC use = more flexibility , ease of manipulation and positioning

Humm As many on here have said that DC flows around the outside of the conductors. Therefore more conductor wires the better the current flow. What Wiki says is just the opposite!! I quote from Wiki "For DC (Direct Current) in typical conductor material like copper, aluminum, silver, etc., the conductor's charges are flowing distributed uniformly throughout the material." Copy and pasted from the Wiki site.
Although I agree that the more strands the more flexable!

the wiki is correct; skin effect only applies to AC.

wow they never taught us that during any education ive recived power flows through the complete wire what the refer to that travels the out skiz is not the voltage or amperage is free atoms

if that was the case 500 KCmil would not be rated at 300amps 90 deg with only 15 strands of solid copper

nor would the #14 awg solid be able to handle 15 amps this is a a/c re:
