The way I did mine was to set the FNR to EXACTLY N. Then slid it back and forth until the handle was EXACTLY up and down. Snug everything up and test it, but you should be nearly perfect.

Maybe if you look closely you can see where the old one was sitting?
Otherwise it is just a matter of experimentation to find where the linkage moves the lever to full F&R, as seen in johnnies attachment, the switch cam MUST move from stop to stop to get full contact alignment.
When the cam is in any position other than at these cam stops there is partial (or no) contact. Operation in partial contact will result in damage to contacts or F&R housing due to heat.
Hope this helps
Scotty I did mark position of the old one as your directions said, but when in that postition I have forward only try sliding it over alittle and get reverse not been able to find the right spot yet. It seems like when I had it the same as the old one when I put it in forward the linkage hits on bracket to the F&R handle is

I have seen someone install the linkage plate upside down, this raised hell with the shifter of adjustment. I'm not mentioning names or admitting any guilt here.

Well.....Yeah....but that's just too obvious. It's not the cover....I had to take the cover off so you could see it. It's actually right there and really easy to pick out.

Which is why it's probably so hard to see.
