Found a 2nd fuel filter on my 02 G16

I just put in the tune up kit on my G16 and I found a second fuel filter. Is this normal to have two? There was one connected to the body just off the top of the fuel tank and the other was between the fuel pump and carb. Will this hurt the performance of my motor? Thanks.

Don't know about the performance, but I think the filter between the pump and carb is unnecessary. Now's a good time to check/replace fuel lines.

Thank you Dave, I will replace all of the fuel lines and take that second filter out seeing how it's not really needed.

I have installed a second fuel filter between the fuel pump and carb on some cars that always seemed to get a "stuck" needle/float. And it seemed to help.

2 oz GUM OUT,the one for carbs;; per 4 gal of gas, will clean a dirty system, and better yet keep it clean'' it even cleans the filter' and cost very little, i just do my 5 gal. can and use it in all my stuff..when i first got my g16 it had a bad miss, new filter and started Gum Out, about 2 gal. later it was running smooooooooooth''
