Newby with new to me G22. Need parts help
Hey all,
Thx got the add. I picked up a 2005 G Max (Gas) cart yesterday. It is smoking when cold, so I am going tp tear it down a freshen the top end up. Is it easier to pull the motor completely or do the freshen up in frame? I have the body off for paint work and will be doing a lift, wheels tires diamond plate etc... over the next few weeks. The cart was used as a maintenance cart at a camp ground and is filthy but looks to be in overall decent shape. So the questions are do a top end in the frame or pull? once I determine what parts I need for the motor, do you have suggestions on parts? I would like to buy an OE cylinder, piston and rings. I am assuming it has a jug and the cylinder is not part of the case. Plus valve guide seals. (I thing the seals are the issue) the motor was supposedly rebuilt not long ago. Where can I find a service manual on it? I will need torque specs and timing for the build. Any help would be appreciated. |

Cylinder is part of the block. Take the motor out for sure. It's a easy job to remove.

Re: Newby with new to me G22. Need parts help
Pulled motor today and popped the head off. The piston is .50mm so the block is maxed. I am thinking by the time I buy a block and build it back stock, I may as well buy a factory new motor. Suggestions on the best place to buy one is at?

If you are staying factory, not a Clone swap, here's the part number.

If it was rebuilt recently check compression and look to see if you can still see the cross hatches on the cylinder wall if you can and it looks good I would just re ring it while you're in there and do the valve guide seals and see if that fixes the smoking

They said it had been recently rebuilt. I went ahead and bought a fresh new motor from Partszilla. This one ran strong and cleared up pretty quick. I am thinking valve guide seals. That is usually what smoke on start up is from. I am building for the long haul and want it to be perfect.
