The coil is an hour to change out.

I see it all the time, an a effort to save money, 200 dollars was wasted.

I call it the "kick stand" story

This...You need to know if you are actually losing spark. And yes, a new aftermarket coil can be bad.

1st verify that it is losing spark. One of those spark testers would be a good way to check. The stop switch and ignition switch send power to the stop relay, which in turn grounds the ignition coil to kill the spark when the key switch is turned off or the accelerator pedal is released. If you can unplug the small blue wire to the coil it will eliminate that shut off system to verify if it's the coil or one of those other components (key switch, stop switch, relay) causing it to lose spark. Caution: test running it that way there is no ignition kill & the engine will keep running till the fuel /air cuts off. The carburetor should close enough to starve it when you're off the pedal but it may have to be choked off to get it to quit. https://www.cunninghamgolfcar.com/Im...%20diagram.pdf
All that said, I agree that the seemingly cheaper aftermarket coils are notoriously unreliable. Lots of parts I'm fine with aftermarket suppliers, but coils seem to be a problem.

A redhawk coil? Junk. The system is not that complicated. Step one-use good parts. I change too many coils to count a year, and never have this type of issue. Spark drops out when hot. As long as no one has gone in there and butchered the wiring, its the coil.

That's why I'm saying test things first. Don't spend the money on a coil if you don't know for sure that it's the problem.
