Default 97 gas EZGO will not start if cold

I have a 97 gas ezgo that will not start if the temperature get down below 40 degrees F. I have used either and it still doesn't hit a lick. If I put a heat lamp on it, in about 1 hour it starts find. This lead me to think it is electrical. I do have a DVM but don't have any ideas on where to start. I also have a 2008 ezgo. Any help would be welcome

None of your relays are busted where water could get in them and freeze up are they.

Just a thought

Hello Richard,

Does your choke and gas system work?
(Does the chokebutterfly close and is gas going where it has to go?)
Is there water in the pump?
Is 40 Fahrenheit low enough for frezing the water in the gassystem?
(We in Europe / Holland count in Celsius)

Benno

First thing to do is determine if it is a fuel or electrical issue.
Before you try to start it in the morning, pull the plug and check for spark.
If you have spark then you have checked the whole electrical system and it works!!
Screw the plug back in and spin it over for 10 to 15 seconds with choke, pull the plug and see if it is wet or dry.
If it is wet you might have a bad or old plug. Some plugs even new will fire out of the cylinder but not under compression. **ampion plugs mainly!

If it is dry then check the choke action to see if is closing all of the way.

One of the first thing I would do is adjust the valves other than that, check to make sure there's spark and you have good plugs like crash said.

Hi Benno, 32 degrees fahrenheit is freezing or = to 0 degrees celsius
