1987 Marathon Project
Step 1 of 3 The steering on my 1987 ezgo Marathon was very sloppy so Took the front end apart to find the problem and fix it. First off it had 15 years of grease and dirt over most every thing. So degrease every thing and cleaned up I found bad ball joints and the rack and pion boot was broken into 2 pieces. With ever thing nice and clean I repainted the suspension parts and new grease Zerk's. I got new HD springs for the font(made a big difference) repacked the wheel bearing and new seals. With every thing back together it looks good and steers 100% better.
The next step will be the motor compartment and go through the motor. The last step will be repainting the cart and new moldings. |

Re: 1987 Marathon Project
We live just north of Kalamazoo.
I do not know what kind of shocks they are. They are the ones that were on it I just painted them. I ask a Napa and they said they would have to do some big gigging to find some replacements so I just painted them. |

Re: 1987 Marathon Project
Very nice!
For shocks, I used Monroe 31125's on the front and 31000's on the rear. They worked good with a 6" lift. |

Re: 1987 Marathon Project
Go on Monroe Shocks web-site,look in the charts and you can come up with a shock that will fit, then just call your auto-parts store with the Monroe number(or use the Gabriel-site,same set-up).I've done a bunch of rear-shocks this way and its' much better and cleaner than the brackets they give you with the lift-kits,besides the fact that most cart-shocks are whipped anyways!Hope this helps.

Re: 1987 Marathon Project
Step 2 of 3 motor out and taken apart. Found bad bearings and the crank case was leaking. All new bearings, seals, rings, and getting the head fixed(it was warped) and the motor will be good as new. All moldings and electrical out so I can paint the motor compartment. Then fix all the dents in the body and give it a new coat of paint.
