Electrical wire sizes
Where would I find this out?
My cart looks like a hodge podge of different wire spliced together and i want to make sure I replace it with the right stuff. It is looking like a total rewire at this point. My positive cable is 4 gauge, but my negative is 2 gauge... I have 18 gauge wire spliced into 22 gauge, etc. |

Re: Electrical wire sizes
When I redid my Marathon I went w 16AWG for basically all the small wiring, the battery and starter cables on it were relatively new ... I *did* jump up to either 12 or 14AWG (can't recall) for the headlights, mainly due to the high amperage draw (was always going to throw a relay in there but it hasn't burned up in 2 years, so ....)
All connectors are standard crimp-style, either spade or loop, depending on what they go to (I tried to stay as close to factory as possible) - also, don't be afraid to make some of the wires to your own convenient lenght, the factory routing leaves something to be desired and you want to be able to get at stuff and service it in the future without pulling your hair out |

4 or 8 gauge should be fine for battery cables IMO.

Re: Electrical wire sizes
I bought 2 new 4 AWG wires for the batteries....
So, I can use the 16 AWG for the rest? Seems funny that mine has a variety, but wanted to ensure that I don't have too thick or thin of wire. |

Re: Electrical wire sizes
mine had a rats nest of splices, forks, etc too (and it made NO sense whatsoever that it even ran considering when I redid it to the actual EZGO wiring diagram it was over half different, rerouted, etc) ... 16 worked for me, your mileage may vary, of course :)

I agree with brew 16 gauge will be fine. I used that for my lights as well since I'm running led front and rear.
