Thanks! I will look at my belt. Should my driven clutch be open when the cart is stopped?

negative if i remenber correctly.
the drive will be open, and the driven closed.
when running the drive will close, and teh driven will open.
look up how to take the driven off and diagnose it. it could be the phenolic buttons and or a cam/helix that could be bad. or even some other issues.
mine was buttons, and the alum sheaves were hammered so i cleaned them up on a lathe.

No, something isn't right on the secondary. Remove that plastic cover by removing the three Philips head screws. Then it should be a 14 mm bolt holding the clutch to the shaft. It may take some very light tapping to remove the first time. Take a look at it, something is stopping the spring from fully closing. To take the clutch apart you will have to make a compress tool. Take a look and post some pics if you don't see the problem.

And measure your outside circumference of your belt.

I tried pulling the clutch today but couldn't get the screw's that hold the dust cover on off. I soaked them in penetrating oil on it and will try again tomorrow.

when you do get things apart, i like never seize on my threads. i use it on lots of things. lug nuts, clutch bolts, etc...my pet peeve is to have bolts rust and break.

I didn't get a chance to try again today. Hopefully I can get to it tomorrow.

I just went out and tried to get them off and was only able to get one of them out. I'm thinking I may have to take the muffler off and get to them with my impact drill... I don't know what else to do, I'm afraid that I am going to strip them out.
