Default Finally finished my 295 rebuild!

Finally finished up everything Saturday morning on my 1996 295 rebuild! It really wasn't that bad, just few things were pretty time consuming. Cleaning was the biggest thing. That thing was dirty! The other was lapping the valves and installing them. Those keepers are TINY! Anyway, got everything in, bolted up and she fired right off. Seems to be running good and very smooth.

I do still have a problem that I've had ever since I had the cart. When going up a hill this thing gets really slow and drags, even with only one person in it. It has a little bit of a lift and some bigger tires on it. When I first got it, I put a shorter belt on it and it seemed to help somewhat but not greatly. I checked and adjusted the valves and that didn't seem to help. I thought it may be a clutch issue, and was going to check that, until my engine gave way on me. Now that I'm back up and running, where do I look? It's like the engine is bogging and not even turning up high RPM's when I'm going up hill, like the driven clutch is not releasing and letting it get back to low gear? Any help would be appreciated!

Instead of hitting the hill at top speed, I've found when coming up to a BIG hill I stop and let the drive clutch return to the low part and then give it only enough gas to go up slowly making sure the drive clutch doesn't get enough RPM to start increasing the gear ratio.

Donnie glad to see you got your cart running. Is the fuel pump in good shape/

Also, did you have to overbore the cylinders? I am getting to rebuild mine and am fairy sure it needs to be bored.
