I use brad penn or Valvoline RACING. It still has the ZDDP in it. You usually have to order it threw summit or jegs. The valvoline racing napa carries. I personally think the zinc is needed is air cooled engines. But mobil one is great oil product.

Zinc is allegedly needed in all engines that do not have roller cam lifters.

That's what I've been reading also. From what I understand oil companies have reduced or eliminated zinc in oils because it clogs up the newer catalytic converters,(?) or an emission requirement.(?)
Diesel oils supposedly supposedly have a good amount of zinc that our flat tappet camshafts need. I run Shell Rotella T 10w-30 or 30w in everything except our daily drivers that have roller cams.
I just picked up my G22 a few weeks ago and changed the oil to Wally World 10w-30 synthetic, (the only thing I had at the time) but I also have a bottle of Lucas ZDDP (Zinc additive) that I'm going to add around 2oz to.

I built a 383 SBC this spring that I'm about to fire up for the first time to break in it's cam which is an "old school" flat tappet Lunati Voodoo camshaft that has pretty aggressive lobes and lift. I e-mailed Lunati a couple months ago and inquired on their approval on using 10w-30 Rotella T diesel oil with some additional ZDDP additive and they said it would be fine.

This morning on the foxsports was the powerblock automotive hour time slot of tv shows. One if the shows they did a tour of the royal purple facility in texas. Alot of interesting things they do to produce the RP products. Showed a friction test with the conpetitors synthetic and the royal purple and the results was night and day.

Use to use RP but it's off the shelf or you can get it at any auto store more or less so they have to follow the rule of GOV. so the zinc content isn't as high and Rotella use to be high but has now gone down also. Only oils that have high zinc content that you don't need to add the additive are racing oils that you have to order and can't be found on store shelves per say.

I use Brad Penn 10-30 racing oil/ green oil in all my 4 stroke motors and cars. It's a semi-synthetic oil with high zinc. It's in my 05' Avalanche, 07' Trailblazer SS, 92' Nissan Maxima, G9 cart, leaf blower, 04' polaris 500 atv.
