Re: The G2 Project
It looks good and beefy...... Just hadn't seen one using square pipe for building it.

Re: The G2 Project
The build looks great so far Ron,the only thing I would suggest is a couple gussets from the bottom of your dropped crossmember to the frame. With the swing-arm lower like it is,it will flex and crack over time without reinforcements. If you ran a piece of 1/8" flat sideways across, even only from ear to ear for example,it will drastically strengthen it,and act as a skid plate at the same time.It will keep you from high-centering it as easily(been there, the sudden stop sucks!).

Re: The G2 Project
Looks great so far...... But I agree with Pachanga on the bracing of the swing arm drop. How much did you drop it? Move it back any?

Re: The G2 Project
Thank for the feedback guys. I'm not sure I understand where the gussets should be, please elaborate. This is my third design of swing arm drop over the years for these G2/G9 carts. The idea behind this setup is that you don't have to weld anything to the cart, it is a "bolt on". If it works out and someone produces it this will give the non welders out there a simple way to level out their engines.
This lowers the swing are about 3-1/2" and pushes it rearward about 2-1/2". |

Re: The G2 Project
If you want it to remain a bolt in, I'd put weld the gussets in on each side of the original swing arm mount.
Weld it into your bracket leaving enough space so that when you slide your bracket on the original swing arm mounts the new gusset will be on the outsides of each original mount with a hole so that your bolt can go thru the gusset and the original mount tying it all together. And then just because I like to beef up and know it's strong, I'd weld in a brace, using flat steel, between the two gussets and along the bottom of your drop bracket. |

Re: The G2 Project
Looks nice, Ron. If you haven't already, think about piping the oil drain to a convenient place. I wish I had...

Re: The G2 Project
I will certainly consider adding some gussets as mentioned. Thanks for the input.
