Charger staying on 20 amp
I have a 1999 club car ds 36volt with 2013 batteries with a power drive charger. When I plug it in the charger goes up to 18 to 20 amp and stays there. I had charged it the other night and went out to the garage the next after noon and it was still on 20 amp and the batteries where boiling over any help would be very appreciated I am pulling my hair out trying to figure out this one..

Re: Charger staying on 20 amp
What is the voltage of your batteries and the pack. A bad cell will not charge.

Re: Charger staying on 20 amp

Re: Charger staying on 20 amp
I think Golfdog said you have a 48v charger trying to charge a 36v battery pack. Or vice-versa.

Re: Charger staying on 20 amp
For checking polarity, just make sure the wires go from positive to negative. If you hooked one up wrong, it might be going from positive to positive etc.
I think you are going to find that it is at least one bad battery. I just went thru a very similar sitch, and after days of testing everything checked out good, as far as wiring , The voltage was fine on the batteries, but the specific gravity was bad. So I replaced the batteries. Problem went away. |

Re: Charger staying on 20 amp
36v CC's do not charge with a Powerdrive charger. What does the end of the charger plug that plugs into the cart look like? It it round with three prongs, or rectangular with two prongs?

Re: Charger staying on 20 amp
Start at the beginning, on the case of your charger, what is the output voltage and amps? It should be clearly marked.
