Default Resistor and diode change after upgrades?

Will I need to change the resistor and diode after a controller and solenoid upgrade? It an I2 Excel CC. Going to a 400 amp Curtis and a 400 amp solenoid.
Is this a must change item?
What is it's function?
Thanks for you replies!
