Another question on topic: How often should you be adding distlled water? Now that it's summer time it seems I am having to add water every couple of weeks just to keep it above the plates.

Don't let it get below plates ---ever!!! So the answer is add water as often as needed to keep it above the plates. I am adding water about every ten days now. Live on the west coast of FL and drive about 6 miles a day.
