Re: need help identifying a rear diff
i am definitely going to have to do something. it is a very expensive clothes rack right now. just like my ezgo that needs batteries and my indian chief that has an expired tag and my suburban that needs a tune up. i just store extra crap all over them.

Re: need help identifying a rear diff
just not sure yet. could be hubs or in side the case.any more tips would be useful. such as maybe if I do take it all apart and determine the hubs are fine should I ship to someone to rebuild it? and who might be a good candidate. and also who might have one new or used in good working order at the best price?

trans1.jpg
trans2.jpg trans3.jpg trans4.jpg trans6.jpg hubs look fine. i see the problem. planetary gears are crumbled. lots of metal everywhere. the differential assembly part# 012DA107X is what i need but they are 180 from lawm mower sites 231 from powersports sites and 439 from motorcycle sites. same part is in many differentials and trannies. i think this thing sat and maybe even had water in it from living at the beach. lots of surface rust that probably didnt help. i am going to some transmission shops tomorrow to maybe get just the 2 planetary gears for a few bucks each if possible while the rest of the parts take a soak in some kerosene and i may get it running quicker. several lawn tractor stores may be blessed with seeing me tomorow as well. if all else fails ill order that assembly. |
