Default Oil injector information needed for G1

Hi,

I am new this forum, and have a newly acquired 1985 G1 Yamahauler cart. My question is regarding the oil injector housing. Is this a dry sump with the gear that drives the injector or is this to be oil filled? I see some black tar residue in there during the rebuild and don't want to ruin it if I run it dry. There looks to have been a seal on the outer oil gear cover plate where the clutch goes on the shaft. Any info regarding this part of my rebuild would be very helpful.

Thanks!

The process of purging all the air from the oil system is a pain. Read up. Mix your own gas until it has had time to pump its oil for a while. One small air bubble in the pump or line is more than plenty of time to kill the motor. Just keep in mind that one fill of the oil tank is supposed to last about 10 tanks of gas. The flow through the oil tank is quite slow, and air trapped in the oil pump may never come out without proper purging. Download the manual....its here.

Thank you for the information. I have a manual on the way. I am a bit concerned about the gear that drives the oil pump. It looks like the cover has a gasket and the gear inside should be run in a gear oil of some sort. However the seal that is on the cover where the clutch goes through and engages the gear is toast. Has anyone ever changed this seal and if so, where can I find it?

No oil, just grease. Seal part# 93112-53004-00.
