What model do I have? And how to improve top speed?
I am new to this, having just bought a used 48V Yamaha. I am trying to identify the exact variant I have so I can plan upgrades and purchase accessories that will fit.
First thing is to wire a battery charge indicator, followed by improving top speed. The cart will be used exclusively on flat paved roads, hauling kids around the neighborhood or down to the marina a few blocks away. Any insight, tips or recommendations will be greatly appreciated! I have some pics but cannot upload since I am new to this forum. |

Re: What model do I have? And how to improve top speed?
Ok, so if 19 mph is fine for you, a ptv speed code from a Yamaha dealer is the way to go for low cost. If you want more, the cost just went up a bit. A motor & controller combo (with HD cables) would be the next step. That can get you into the upper 20s or more. There is the high speed gears option, at a in between price point, but it will reduce reliability of the cart in the long run. High speed gears are really hard on the stock motor and controller.

Here are the pictures he sent me. I find it unusual the date is deliberately removed. Last picture is just the seat, I believe, but it may be a 2014? I asked for a picture of the serial number.

Pretty sure that’s a 2008.

Re: What model do I have? And how to improve top speed?
I have validated it's a 2008. I don't really have a practical way to take it to the dealer. So it looks like motor and controller combo is in my future. Any specific options I can research? I read a bit about the Plowman Riot kit. Anything comparable under $1k?
