The 88 is a 2pg 2 stroke with 11 horsepower. That is achieved by a different muffler, and a bv-24 Mikuni carburetor.
The rest of the engine is identical to the older 2pg engines. They are only 9 horsepower because of the bv-18 carburetor, and a more restrictive muffler. The 89 is a 3pg 2 stroke engine. The engine sits differently. The clutches go from front to back instead of side to side like the 2pg engines. It's a different design. The starter/ generator might be one of the few interchangeable parts. |
