Another 3PG 1999 Marathon that wont start!
Just got done replacing the cylinder to crankcase gasket on my 2 cycle 3PG Marathon. The gasket was bad and could see bubbles there before I pulled the jug. The piston, rings, and cylinder looked pretty good when it was apart and the suspected gasket was bad. Everything is back together with a new gasket kit. Cart still wont start!! I have spark when checked with the spark tester and the the plug gets damp with fuel after cranking it for a while. Any suggestions??? Ready to push this thing off a cliff pretty soon ...

No I have not. Guess I will need to buy one a tester. Piston, rings, and sleeves all looked pretty good so I really had not thought about low compression. That's about the only thing left I supposed. Cart had been running pretty darn good before it just basically quit and I found the bad gasket.

I would suspect crankshaft seals.

Clutch side seal was just replaced. Is the flywheel side seal the same one or a different seal? Guess I will check compression first and see what I get.

It's the same seal.

Ok, just finished the compression test with my new Lisle 20250 tester. It consistantly read 115 psi. That's a pretty good reading, right? If so, its gotta be the flywheel side crack seal then? Just an fyi... the fuel pump was replaced before i found the bad gasket earlier nd it didn't change anything.

115 is plenty in the two strokes. Take a look at your reed valve too. A faulty reed valve will result in loss of crankcase pressure and no suction for fuel.
