If you have tension on the M6 bolts, a quick, deliberate tap with a steel hammer will usually pop the flywheel loose. Tap the puller right on the center where it is up against the crank shaft.

I know this sounds like a stupid question, but did you remove the crank nut?

Yes, Others on the site have said it could be a process of waiting for the Blaster to get into the threads. if I pound any harder I am afraid of tweaking the 6mm bolts.

mea culpa on the 3/4 inch bolt, if forgot to mention the fine thread part. There is no need to wail on the puller just keep a good tension on the screws and a sharp tap on the center and some gentle taps on the flywheel itself. Eventually the shock will crack the rust and she will come off with a pop that in my case made me thing the puller had snapped. Do not be tempted to lever it off as you will break the flange around the flywheel.

OK, Flywheel and clutch are off. The flywheel seal was toast! The cluthc seal was removed without a lot of heartburn but the flywheel is a bit tougher as I don't want to get too violent and score the surfaces. Any suggestions? Also i read that blue Locktight is a good idea to apply when installing the seals, any thoughts? Thanks

Congratulations you have boldly gone etc etc.... I had the same issue getting the old seal out and I used a large screwdriver as a pry bar and a pair of pointed nose pliers. I bent up the outer lip and just kept picking away at it. I too recommend Loctite blue as I have had a seal blown out in the past. Also lubricate the rubber with some two stroke oil before assembly. When you press in the seal only drive it in so that the lip is flush with the outside of the crankcase as it is possible to drive it so that it makes contact with the main bearings, which is not good.
Once again kudos to you I am very confident that the front seal was the root of your problems and by the time you finish you will have a great engine that will run for many years.

I have taken a small flat-blade screwdriver and put it in through the rubber part of the seal. I put it in far enough to catch the metal part of the seal, and then pry it out. Be careful not to hit the bearing right behind the seal.

That is what I did on the clutch side, it's the flywheel side that has me stymied at the moment. Locktight a go or no go?

Yes to the Loc-Tite.
Like Dave said, if you can start the metal turning up from the center of the seal, you can get it out with needle-nose pliers/vice grips.
