Ignition coil and starter/generator
Could a bad starter/generator cause the ignition coil to go out? If it puts out too much current could it "blow" the coil. I have a 2008 st sport II. I will check for fire at the plugs and work my way back. I know it's getting fuel and air, just haven't had time to check for spark. Thanks

Re: Ignition coil and starter/generator
Thanks for the response. It didn't start. I did have to change out the coil a few days ago, it had quit working. I had power to it but it produced no spark. Changed it out and the cart ran fine for a couple of days. I went to leave the barn, it started then quit. It was out of gas. Refueled and no start. Will check for spark later today when I get a chance. By the way what is "way over charging". I'm assuming it should be around 12 volts going to it. Is there a maximum voltage it can handle?

Loose connection at the plug on the bottom of the coil. Plugs looked rough, changing these while I have it the barn.

Re: Ignition coil and starter/generator
Well since we were under the seat we decided to check the valves. The home made tool mike came up with in the tech section for the valve set was easy, cheap and a perfect fit. Worked great. Oh, by the way the other hands under the seat were my 11 year old's. We printed the instructions and I let him do most of it. Good project for me and my boy.
