Default Steering Column moving up and down while turning

I am a little confused regarding how to fix my problem. After I removed my wheel to put on a chrome steering column, I now have an issue with my steering. As I turn the wheel, the column or wheel seems to move up and down. TahoeDawg was nice enough to suggest that maybe I knocked the retaining clip loose when I was hitting the steering nut with a hammer. Does anyone know where this is located or how you fix it? Thanks

Yea I saw that and also #22. What I am confused about it where they are located. Do I need to remove the steering column to get to them?

there are bushings and bearings in the top and bottom of the steering shaft, hope you didn't break them, the first thing to check is the linkage at the end of shaft . i think there 10 mm, loosen top one first and pry open push shaft down tighten it up and check its a lot easier if you take the nose off I would start there sorry diagram wasn't there when I started look at no.1

It looks like #22 is just under the steering wheel, and #14 is at the other end of the shaft. I have not taken a 2000 model apart so not much help

am I better off replacing the column with a used one or can these things clips, retainers and bushings be changed out?

No need to buy a used column. They make column rebuild kits, and I highly recommend them as I installed the kit on my own DS. Was not very hard at all only took a couple of hours and I went slow. Steers like brand new after the kit.

Here is also a picture of what comes in the kit just type in "club car DS steering column rebuild kit" on one of our site sponsors!
