Runs for a second...
2004 ds with regen. (tow switch under seat)
Cleaned all terminals. Charges normally. Headlights work. With ignition switch on and in Forward or Reverse, depressing the accelerator causes the normal "click", the cart moves for about a second or two... then nothing. VOM confirms 48 volts across all batteries. This all started with a slight stutter, now is does the above. The only terminals I have not cleaned are the +/- at the motor. Guesses? I am not a cart buff by any stretch. Thanks for any help, Doug |

Re: Runs for a second...
It sounds like you may have a bad MCOR (Throttle control switch). The MCOR is located underneath the passenger side floorboard mounted to the outer side of the I-Beam frame. There is an internal micro switch in the MCOR that has the tendency to fail and cause the symptoms you describe. For test purposes, locate the MCOR and you'll see that there are two plugs. One is a two-pin square plug and the other is a triangle shaped three-pin plug. Un-plug the two-pin connector and leave the three-pin connector attached. Using a paperclip or a small piece of wire, create a jumper between the connections within the 2 pin plug that you removed from the MCOR. See if the vehicle will operate with the jumper in place. If it does, replace the MCOR with the "AM293101 MCOR4 Conversion kit" We have them on our web store if you are interested. Let me know what you find and I'll be glad to help.

Re: Runs for a second...
Just a thought, If you connect the meter to the battery pack and try to go - what does the pack voltage drop to when the cart does not go any further?

Re: Runs for a second...
Just to add another thing for you to check, how old are the battery cables? If they are old and have formed corrosion inside the insulation the resulting resistance could also cause the same malfunction. However, I'd probably lay my money on the MCOR like Tahoe said as I've seen that same failure many times over

Re: Runs for a second...
Here are my findings
Jumped the MCOR two pin plug. It did not help, dang it. My hopes were indeed on that one. It ran for a few seconds tops. Checked the batteries while in the failure mode and still had 48v with accelerator depressed. Any other thoughts? The cables are in good shape but other than continuity and voltage, my testing gear is just a von. Thanks again! |

Re: Runs for a second...
Do you hear the solenoid click when you press the accelerator? IQ cars can run even with a bad solenoid a lot of times, but only for a few feet.
