Is it possible or advisable to use four 12v batteries instead of six 8 volt ones?
It's time for new batteries for my 48v electric Club Car...
Is it possible, or advisable, to use four 12v batteries instead of six 8 volt ones? If so, what are the advantages and disadvantages? Thanks for your advice about this! |

4 - 12v less run time
6 - 8v more run time 8 - 6v even more run time (space issues) Generally speaking of course. |

Re: Is it possible or advisable to use four 12v batteries instead of six 8 volt ones?
In gerneral 12v batteries have less capacity than 8v. Traveling the same distance would discharge the 12v deeper. Deeper discharge per cycle equals shorter life span.
Club Car introduced the Precedent in 2004 with 12v batteries. By 2008 they went back to 8v batteries and even produced a kit to convert older carts to 8v. There is a reason for this. !2v (traction/golf cart) batteries can and do work for many people. However, I can't think of a reason to change to 12v batteries unless their reduced range is compatible with your use and they are significantly cheaper than the 8v's. My opinion of course. |

If you currently have 6 8 volts, stay that way in my opinion.. Better range and cheaper around here at least.
