Just bought a cart I want to get rid of.
I just bought my first cart 2 weeks ago. It's a 2010 CC Precedent Excel (Fleet car.) I acquired it in reasonably worn out shape, with plans to fix it up as a street legal LSV, here in Louisiana. I have since found out that the State Police aren't going to let me assign it a VIN. I know, I'm not the first.
I got the cart home and completely disassembled it and cleaned everything meticulously. All metal pieces were bead blasted and painted black. I added some shiny new wheels and tires, a Jake's 6" lift kit, HD rear springs, new shocks, front hubs, and a volt meter. So I have a nice foundation, but if I can't drive it on the street, I don't want it. I guess I'm going to look into getting a CC Villager 2+2, or something that can be tagged and driven. That brings up a question on getting rid of the current cart. As it stands, I'm about $3700 into this thing, and it needs batteries and cables. Do I go ahead and fix that part up, looking to recoup some of the expense, or try to sell it as it sits, and hope for the best? I appreciate the advice. |

Having brand new batteries is a really strong selling point. I would put them in, then sell. What about a charger?

I've got the CC charger that came with the cart. I can put some Crown 165's for $99 ea. Think it may be the way to go. I can barely lap the block with the batteries that came with it.

I would first try to sell it as it sits. Let the buyer pick out his batteries. You should be able to find a buyer that wants the work you have done - nice job by the way. Not sure why they are so fussy about LSV's where you are. We drive anything that resembles a golf cart on the roads in my Arizona neighborhood.

I second the new batteries if they have a warranty that's piece of mind for the buyer. It's alot to spend but you already deep in it.

Re: Just bought a cart I want to get rid of.
Customers that don't know anything about golf carts want the batteries installed plus how can a buyer truly see how a cart will drive and preform when the batteries are weak...just another thought on the title issues...I was able to go to a Club Car dealer and get a Certificate of Orgin that they got from the CC Factory and that was enough to start the ball rolling. Here in Arizona there are several ways to get a title and the other way is a bonded title. You have to buy a bond equal to the book value of the cart in case it comes up stolen at a later date. Gets to be an expensive way to go.

I went ahead and put new batteries in today. Crown 165AH. I also made up some new 4ga cables to tie everything together. I've got it for sale on Craigslist. We'll see. Thanks to all for advice and input.
