Default Click but no go?

Hey guys. Question for ya. I was doing some reading on this site about this issue and for the life of me I cant find the post again.

So I cleaned my forward and reverse on my 95 DS. But SOMETIMES when I hit the gas it will click but do nothing. Other times I will be driving and the cart will die momentarily and start going again, within .3 of a second I'd say.

SO with this being said. You're the pros. Is this sounding like the solenoid?

Is the car gas or electric? It's possible it could be the solenoid but considering how fast the car quits and then picks back up I don't think it is. Also is it a 48 or 36 volt car?

Curious. What do you mean you cleaned it?

If this issue was NOT happening before you cleaned your F/R switch and you disassembled that switch to clean, be certain it is reassembled correctly. It is possible to put a F/R switch back together and not correctly seat the switch thus causing improper contact.

lol I was thinking that too, but I get the feeling he didn't actually disassemble the switch, he might of just sprayed it down.

good point definitely does not always make contact with the copper. When I think a f/r switch is acting up, when I turn the lever to f or r I wiggle the handle a lot while trying to give it gas and sometimes I notice its because it's not making good contact

Never tore it down. The copper was dirty and I was having the same issue still with the loss of power. So just some rubbing alcohol and a toothbrush to shine it up. Didn't seem to help. This is. 48 volt electric cart. When the gas is pressed it clicks and does not move sometimes. Normally to get it going I can press the gas a few times and it will go. Or move the front and reverse switch. Other times when I am driving it loses power for only a moment.

I don't want to replace both but if that's what I have to do.

hmm your solenoid can still be a suspect I think. Also, sometimes its hard to notice but check all the wires going to the f/r switch and to the solenoid. Sometimes you will find a slightly melted wire or burned connection point that can definitely mess with the car.

Is a microswitch also possible? See stuff gets really dusty at our camp ground so I'm wondering if one of those switches could cause the issue. Just really don't have a pile of money to sink into this cart..

Thanks for everyone that has helped so far!
