Default Ezgo predator 670 swap jerking at idle

So my 2007 ezgo txt had a robins 9hp that seized up. So I put the Predator 670cc. My problem is golf cart tries to pull when foot off brake. When coming to stop it jerks like it still trying to go. I've read that 1 1/2" is good tension. That's where I'm at.

Add a little more slack to the drive belt.

Is the idle too fast? Do you have a tach?

also check the "gas" pedal position and make sure it is at full rest when not pressed. IE adjust the tension

I also did the swap and noticed the drive belt spins at idle. is this why my cart shifts hard?

High idle speed will cause this. You should have 2-3" of deflection in the drive belt. Yes the drive belt will always spin at idle in neutral, but if you have proper space and it idles at 1000 rpm it will shift into gear well without grinding. Then the belt will come to a stop when in gear and foot on the brake. If its a new belt it will be a little grippy until its broken in.

I run a pretty tight belt with about an inch of deflection. My idle is 1050-1080. Only when my belt is dead cold is shifting difficult. My guess is that you idle is too high. The negative issue to running a loose belt is loss of top speed.
