Ok on this theory; with rear axle lifted off the ground I assume the wheels should spin freely? They do about 3/4 a turn then gets “tight”, then loosens up again. Something not right????

Take the belt off when you spin the wheels, and while it's off squeeze the clutch.

Ok I will tackle that later today.

But this front cradle mount does not look as the 2 rear ones. Could that be the issue on why I don’t seem to have enough clearance when removing belt?

Do you have any movement? My brother's 83 was moving enough that the drive clutch was getting closer to the driven clutch. We could also move the cradle side to side with a bar.

Ok I got belt off. When I squeeze the 2 plates of the driven clutch there is no movement in those plates.

That's good. We can eliminate a worn out clutch. Next up is check cradle mounts, and that rolling resistance you were checking.
